Qualifying starts on Saturday, wild cards awarded
First qualifying matches of the Livesport Prague Open will start on Saturday at 10:00 in TK Sparta Prague complex at 10:00. Czech prodigies Barbora Palicová, Dominika Šalková, Tereza Valentová, Patricie Kubíková, Barbora Miklová, Denisa Hindová and Linda Klimovičová were awarded wild cards.
Dominika Šalková will be the first to play on the center court at 10:00. She will challenge Urszula Radwansk from Poland. Right after her, the second Czech wild card Tereza Valentová will follow, playing against Samantha Murray Sharan from Great Britain. The third match on the center court will be the Czech-Slovak battle between Rebecca Šrámková and Barbora Palicová. Another Czech player, Miriam Kolodziejová, will close the program on the center court against Conny Perrin from Switzerland.
As for the court number 1, the fans will witness a battle of 17-year old Czech player Patricie Kubíková against Jodie Burrage. The match between Barbora Miklová and Naikhta Bains will follow. The last match on court number 1 will be played by Denisa Hindová against the American Asia Muhammad, ranked 36 on WTA.
Czech prodigy Linda Klimovičová will play the last match on court number 2 against Russia's Zakharova
On Friday, the last day before the start of the tournament, Czech star Petra Kvitová trained on the center court for the first time.
The organizers also announced wild cards for the main draw. The first one was awarded to Samantha Stosur, the winner of the US Open 2011 and 9 WTA titles. Two more wild cards were awarded to Czech junior Lucie Havlíčková (member of TK Sparta Prague) and Viktória Kužmová from Slovakia.
After Friday night storms, the last preparations before Saturday's start have been finishing in the TK Sparta Prague complex. LED panels have been installed, disinfectants have been distributed throughout the premises and the seats have been thoroughly disinfected so that spectators can feel as safe as possible. On top of that, snack stands will be also prepared for visitors.
