Champion Bouzková: It was a beautiful week that kept getting better and better

26th July 2025

The final of this year's Livesport Prague Open saw Marie Bouzková emerge victorious after a fierce contest against rival Linda Nosková. The thrilling game saw Bouzková win 2–6, 6–1, 6–3 to take the crown for the second time in her career. “I’m very happy and can hardly believe I’ve won here for the second time,” she said after the match.

Linda Nosková stormed into the final like a hurricane, quickly claiming the first set, but Marie Bouzková, known for her traditionally more defensive style, managed to slow down the surge of her younger opponent to eventually walk away from the centre court in Prague with her second LPO singles title.

“After the first set, I mainly tried to hold my serve. I broke Linda in the second game of the second set, that’s when the match started to shift. I began to feel a bit better,” Bouzková said.

“At the very least, I slowed Linda down a bit, and then I felt much more confident. The third set was up and down, and it was important who could hold their serve,” she added about the match.

Rain almost interrupted the players on court, but luckily the conditions remained playable for the entire duration of the match. “In the morning I saw that there is a chance of rain, but in the end it couldn’t have worked out better. When we were awarded the trophies, it was raining, but that didn’t matter at all,” Bouzková noted.

Bouzková celebrated her 27th birthday on Monday and gave herself a belated but very valuable gift. “I think it’s been a beautiful week and it just kept getting better and better. I’m so glad I managed to win,” she said smiling.

In contrast, her opponent Nosková missed another big opportunity to capture the coveted trophy in Prague, losing her second final in Prague. Two years ago, in her first final, she was defeated by Japan’s Nao Hibino.

“Every final loss hurts, every match loss hurts. I wanted to win, but I’m most disappointed with my performance. It was a match similar to the one a few years ago. I could’ve taken more from it,” said a disappointed Nosková, who also lost to Bouzková in the 2022 semifinals.

Nosková, the favourite heading into Saturday’s match, often lacked patience in rallies and accumulated a lot of unforced errors. “I knew very well how Marie plays. But I have to look at it positively – I made it to the final even though I didn’t show even half of what I’m capable of. I want to reset and get back in a positive mindset for the next tournaments,” she commented.

Both Czech players will now head to Montreal, Canada, to participate in a prestigious WTA 1000 event.  “I have a demanding journey ahead. We’re flying out early tomorrow morning. There’s still a big part of the season left with major tournaments, so I need to rest first to regain energy and go from there,” ended Livesport Prague Open 2025 champion Bouzková.
